Marking one of the greatest achievements of Make in India campaign, Telecom minister of India, Ravi Shankar Prasad today announced that the production of mobile phones in India has reached 100 million.
Speaking to the media at Global Business Summit, Ravi Shankar Prasad further added that India has received an investment of 1.14 Lakh Crores by December 2015. Compared to 2014, where the production of mobiles phones in India reached 68 Million, 2015 saw amazing growth and the total production reached 100 million well in time. Also, after the announcement of Make in India, 15 more plans have been set up in the country.
India has got the support from manufacturing companies such as Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Nidec, Samsung, Bosch, Jabil, Flextronics, Continental along with the companies which were already making in India.
ICA (Indian Cellular Association) Founder Pankaj Mohindroo commented on the situation saying that the value of total production has shown an increase of 95 percent compared to the figures of previous fiscal. According to him, the government has been making genuine efforts to attract more investment and manufacturing opportunities. He further added that over 30,000 job opportunities have been created in the country because of mobile phone production investment and the states are showing interest in attracting that investment.
Mobile penetration too has grown at an amazing pace. According to the data from ICA, number of Indian internet users in 2015 grew by 100 million taking the total number to 400. This number is expected to grow further to 500 million before the current year ends.
