Ever since the news of Netflix coming to India appeared first in June 2015, there have been various rumors around the launch date and other aspects. However, for the first time, we seem to have some clarity on it, the latest report by a leading Indian news paper predicts that Netflix for India is all set to make its debut in the coming CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2016 at Las Vegas this week.
According to an older report from the Times of India, “US-based Netflix, has firmed up plans to enter India by 2016, according to people familiar with the matter. This has sent domestic DTH players into a tizzy with some of the major ones chalking out strategies to diversify beyond television. On the cards are iconic shows including Buniyaad, Nukkad and Malgudi Days on various mobile devices across iOS and Android.”
Netflix seems to be taking on the 4G rollout across the globe. With mobile and electronics companies working on portable devices like mobiles with 4G connectivity and better battery life, Netflix seems to be an easy-to-adapt medium to watch the premium video content at a comparatively lesser price. However, there’s already a free alternative available for users who don’t want to pay for it, called ‘ShowBox’. You can check it out on their official website.
There are plenty of stuffs about Netflix, which are still not clear, however, the coming week at CES seems to be pretty exciting, with Netflix and many more things set to launch. We will keep you updated. Stay tuned.
